About the Course and Duration : 1 Year

This course provides an opportunity for B.Sc. graduates with any of the biological sciences as their principal subject, to pursue their career in Medical / Clinical Laboratory Technology, which deals with the analysis of clinical specimens to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The course provides training to students in Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Blood Banking, etc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. with Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT / CLT) / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Chemistry / Zoology / Botany / Biotechnology / Environmental Science / Industrial Microbiology / Genetics / Bio-informatics / Home Science (F & N or F. Sc. & Q. C.) from any recognized university.

Scope / Outcome : At the end of the course, it is expected that the candidates would be able to work as efficient medical laboratory technicians or technologists in the various fields of clinical laboratories such as clinical pathology, hematology, histopathology, blood banking, biochemistry, bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, genetics, etc at Hospitals, Medical Research Centers as well as at various Diagnostic Companies.

 

M.Sc. in Medical Technology (Medical Laboratory Technology)

This course provides an opportunity for the B.Sc. graduates with any of the biological sciences as their principal subject, to pursue their career as a Medical / Clinical laboratory Technologist; who can not only deal with the analysis of clinical specimens to support diagnosis and treatment of disease; but also can undertake research and/or teaching career. The course provides training to students in Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Blood Banking, etc.

Eligibility : B.Sc. with Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT / CLT) / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Chemistry / Zoology / Botany / Biotechnology / Environmental Science / Industrial Microbiology / Life Science / Genetics / Bio-informatics / Home Science (F & N or F.Sc. & Q. C.) from any recognized university.

Scope / Outcome : Candidates would be able to work as efficient medical laboratory technicians or technologists in the various fields of clinical laboratories such as clinical pathology, hematology, histopathology, blood banking, biochemistry, bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, genetics, etc at Hospitals, Medical Research Centers as well as at various Diagnostic Companies.

Candidates with M.Sc. MLT can also pursue their carrier as lecturers at such institutions offering courses in MLT.
