Clinical Training & Infrastructure

The Department of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (AOTT) provides structured, competency-based clinical exposure supported by advanced infrastructure and simulation-based learning.

• Surgical Suites: Training in 18 modern operation theatres, including modular and Green OT certified setups with Linear Air Flow systems, HEPA filtration, laminar airflow technology, and remote-controlled OT tables for precision positioning. Exposure includes general, orthopaedic, neuro, cardiac, obstetric, and minimally invasive surgeries.
• Simulation & Skill Lab: A dedicated Advanced Simulation Skill Laboratory equipped with high-fidelity mannequins for airway management, BLS & ACLS drills, spinal and epidural procedure models, intubation trainers, and crisis resource management simulations. This enables students to practice anaesthesia techniques, emergency response protocols, and OT crisis handling in a safe, controlled environment before real-time clinical exposure.
• Advanced Monitoring: Hands-on experience with multiparameter monitors, capnography, invasive monitoring (CVP & arterial lines), BIS monitoring, and neuromuscular junction monitors for major and high-risk surgeries.
• Difficult Airway Mastery: Access to specialized airway devices including fiberoptic bronchoscopes, video laryngoscopes, LMA variants, bougies, and advanced intubation aids for managing anticipated and unanticipated difficult airways.
• Critical Care Exposure: Rotations in a 100-bed Critical Care Centre, with training in ventilator management, defibrillators, infusion pumps, syringe drivers, and IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) support across Medical, Surgical, Trauma, and Cardiac ICUs.
• Sterilization & Infection Control: Active participation in the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), including instrument reprocessing, autoclaving protocols, ETO sterilization, biological indicator testing, and OT infection control audits to ensure 100% sterility and patient safety compliance.
• Pre-Anaesthesia & Recovery Units: Exposure to Pre-Anaesthesia Check-up (PAC) clinics and Post-Anaesthesia Care Units (PACU), focusing on patient assessment, risk stratification, recovery scoring, and complication monitoring.
